Just Desserts Club: Lemongrass Martini

This evening I’m going to share the recipe for a Martini I put together a few months ago and have been meaning to blog about for a while! However Ems has thankfully pushed me into posting it at last so that I can take part (albeit last minute if not a day or so late!) in a little something called Just Desserts!

What’s Just Desserts? It’s the best pudding club ever. Each month we settle on a theme for pudding recipes, and ask you to blog your recipes. We want to see your exciting creations, and we’ll all get involved as well.

You may have heard of a site called Domestic Sluttery which is run by some lovely ladies who basically just want to make everyone’s life better! One of the ways they do this is with Just Desserts! (Or in my case, after dinner treat!)

This month’s theme is Summery Sweet Citrus, and Ems (who has informed me that cocktails are acceptable) has convinced me to take part at last! So, without further ado…

Lemongrass Martini

Ingredients (makes 2):

  • 1 measure Limoncello
  • 2 1/2 measures Żubrówka (Bison grass) Vodka
  • 1 1/2 measures Regular Vodka
  • 1/2 measure Dry Vermouth
  • 1 1/2 measures Sweet Vermouth
  • 5 drops Angostura Bitters

    Method:
Half fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in all the ingredients and shake together. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and serve with a twist of lemon.

I might try using different bitters in future now that I have a few more, so let me know if you do the same! Also please note the word ‘drops’ and not ‘dashes’ of bitters. I find a dash of bitters difficult to truly master simply because it’s less easy to control and my CDO prefers a more uniform drop to a hastily splashed dash!

And that’s pretty much it! Perhaps not strictly speaking ‘sweet citrus’ but if you like any of the ingredients in this you should be pretty happy! If you do give it a try I hope you enjoy it!

I you’re interested in what Emily is offering up for Just Desserts, I can tell you it is an amazingly delicious Syllabub! Get over there now and check it out!
